I heard Kitty getting upset in the other room. She had lost a ton of work which she put lots of effort into. She is nearly crying and has gotten herself all worked up with an approaching deadline. With her head in her hands, looking as though she will burst into tears at any point. I talk to her, trying to get her to calm down but its not working so I try something else which always works for me. I leave her with her head in her hands for one second whilst I run and grab some lifejackets.

She looks confused when I return but i ask her to trust me. I help her into a bright orange Helly Handsen padded life jacket and show her how it does up. I tell her to enjoy the feeling of it around her and to think of it like a cuddle. I slip into mine while telling her to slow her breathing down and that everything will be ok. Closing our eyes I talk softly to her telling her that everything will be ok.

It doesn't take long before she starts to calm down, surprised by the calming effect of wearing a life jacket. I explain that it is a safety device and it is great to use to comfort yourself with. I think she likes it
