Continuing with the exploration of Yin Yoga, this practice focusses on the hips. Ideal for all yoga practitioners and athletes the practice commences with butterfly pose which invites the practitioner to let go of whatever they are holding onto that they are ready to let go of. This pose can often elicit an emotional response. On a physical level it is an excellent pose for releasing tight hips and glutteus muscles. Students are invited to use blankets and bolsters to foster an environment of letting go. This pose is followed up with the half butterfly. The half butterfly includes some side work and is an excellent complement or substitute to the half butterfly. The practice closes with a meditation inspired by the Sufi Poet Rumi.
