Amongst inventor’s worldly possessions detective finds this cryptic note:

 

“Eyes blink underneath wild, tangled briar,

Creeping vines entangle metallic chassis,

Humanoids avoid blunt catastrophe

On their long, slow descent into the mire.”

 

Phrases echo inside detective’s mind, almost as if he hears inventor’s voice speaking them over and over. “Of course.” Detective says aloud to empty room. “The old man hid his greatest creations so they wouldn’t fall into the wrong hands. Tangled briar.. chassis.. mire?? Sounds almost like he’s describing a garbage dump or a landfill. Would he risk stashing two priceless robots in such precarious terrain?”

Over the next few weeks investigative team methodically compiles a list of every junkyard, dump, and waste disposal site that inventor conceivably could have visited in the final days of his life. Unfortunately for them one lone scavenger, Jesse Adams, arrives at the Repossess Salvage Yard mere hours before officials can conduct a thorough search of the premises..
