Cultivating the Witness 1: Finding the Witness! (QuickTime Movie: MOV)

This class introduces the student to the idea of using one's physical asana practice as an opportunity to serve as meditation as well. Conscious movement is an opportunity for the practitioner to drop into themselves, and observe their inner process. This approach is different from the more common approach to asana (yoga postures) practice, whereby asana is regarded as the preparation for seated meditation. The transitions and asanas in this series are intentionally at a slower pace than so that the practitioner has time to observe and focus on their thoughts as opposed to simply keeping up with the movement. In this class, we use a gentle Sun Salutation, traditional standing postures and breath work to tap into the witness consciousness.
