Deputy Sheriff Rachel Adams is on routine patrol when she is sent to check out a location that is supposed to be vacant as the owners are out of town. A neighbor thought they heard some noise inside and wanted it investigated.

A burglar has picked the lock and entered, but didn't find much in the way of valuables to carry off. Just as he is ready to leave he looks inside a bag and can't believe his eyes-a big bundle of cash! He is so shocked that he just has to sit down and compose himself before he gets out of there.

Just as he sits down he hears someone at the door jiggling a key trying to get in. It's Adams, but she doesn't know what's on the other side of that door. She enters and looks around, but doesn't see anyone. She calls dispatch to make a report. The burglar can't leave with her there so he decides to grab her from behind.

He is able to tie her up on the floor, still in uniform, as he formulates an escape plan. He decides to retie her to a chair. He grabs the cash and runs. She'll probably escape soon, but he'll be long gone by then.
